SDSR Stage 3 Criterium

After three intense days of the San Dimas Stage Race, cyclists pounded their pedals, pumped their hearts and dug into their selves to beat the clocks, the competitors and overcome hurdles. Chasing  dreams of racing on iconic mountainsides, earthquake rocked dams, and the centrifugal force of tight cornered city streets, this photographer took 6,600 pictures over 28 hours of cycling. It still comes down to a single photo of the Professional Men's Criterium  of Stage 3 where Daniel Holloway of Athlete Octane crossed the finish line. Congratulations Daniel. And to ClĂ©ment Chevrier of USA Bissell Development Team who was the General Classification GC Leader.

San Dimas, California (March 24, 2014) - The dates for the San Dimas Stage Race (SDSR) are almost here. The SDSR is a premier race which attracts top flight riders and teams in all categories and provides great entertainment for spectators of all ages.  Now in its 15th year, the race is hosted by Southern California Velo (SC Velo), presented by MRI Endurance, supported by terrific sponsors, and staffed by dedicated volunteers led by Race Director Al Wiscovitch.

The race consists of three exciting stages in three great venues:

  * A challenging Time Trial up Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) on Friday, March 28th,
     sponsored by Chaffey Auto Body.

  * A grueling classic Road Race around Bonelli Park on Saturday, March 29th,
sponsored by San Dimas Community Hospital.

  * A fast and furious Criterium around downtown San Dimas on Sunday, March 30th,
sponsored by Incycle bike stores and Cannondale bikes.

All three stages offer great opportunities for riders to excel and for cycling fans to see exciting pro and amateur racing up close. If you can only attend one day, come on Sunday and enjoy our Expo along with the race. There are no admission fees for watching the races.

On-Line Registration is complete with almost 800 riders signed up. Many world class professional teams and riders are on the roster.  Talented riders from around the country and beyond have signed up in large numbers in all categories from Pro to Juniors.  All of the fields are strong and the riders are anxious to kick off their racing seasons with exceptional performances.

Arrow Hwy.  In person registration can also be done on Friday, March 28th, in the registration area of stage 1, the Glendora Mountain Road Time Trial, up to 1 hour before the first start time of the category being signed up for.  See http://sdsr.info for more information about open categories, Time Trial location, and start times.

Secure Your Spot for SDSR 2014

San Dimas, California (March 06, 2014) – Riders, volunteers, and housing hosts are wanted for the 15th annual San Dimas Stage Race (SDSR), scheduled for March 28 th, 29 th, and 30th, 2014. Come and be part of 3 days of great racing.  Information about the race is available at SDSR.info

Rider registration is open through Sunday March 23rd .  All categories are still open, but register now to assure a spot.  Register at BikeReg.com ( https://www.bikereg.com/Net/san-dimas-stage-race ).  Stage races like the SDSR which are open to a wide range of riders are becoming very rare, so please come out and support this race.

Volunteers are needed to help at the race in roles such as Course Marshall.  For information about open volunteer position, see volunteers.sdsr.info ( http://volunteers.sdsr.info )  This is a great opportunity to be a part of a professional caliber bike race.  Strong volunteer support is what makes it possible for us to put on this event.  Everyone’s contribution is valued!  Email our Volunteers Director at Volunteers@sdsr.info if you have any questions about volunteering.

Housing hosts are needed to provide accommodations for pro team riders that are racing in the SDSR.  Hosting one or more riders is a great way to become acquainted with professional cyclists. More information about host housing is available in a PDF document posted at http://volunteers.sdsr.info/SDSR2014HostHousing.pdf   Email our Host Housing Coordinator at HostHousing@sdsr.info if you are interested in being a housing host.

Bill's Saturday Ride

The beautiful weather brought out lots of riders, many of them obviously training for the San Dimas
Stage Race (SDSR).  It had been two weeks since I have ridden, so I took it easy today.  I stopped at the shed for a while and then rode out on the Glendora Ridge Road to get some pictures of Mt Baldy.

Coming back down GMR, I encountered a rider down at mile marker 11.70.  She had be thrown from her bike when her front brakes locked. She was being tended by other riders in her group. I was asked
about the nearest hospital, I replied Foothill Pres. and gave them directions on how to get there because they were transporting her in a private car. I hope that she is ok.

Saturday Ride

I wanted to go to Fork Plus Four and when I got there my legs said just a little bit further. My legs took me to GRR mile marker 8.3 a total of 42.3 mile round trip. I have plenty of work to do to improve my time. It was a superb day to be on the road riding.
