Shedding the walls of cubicles, I headed outdoors to the canyon for a walk. The sun felt good.

Saturday Spin
The sweat dripped down my face as I pedaled my bicycle up the mountain road. Mid-breath I glanced down at the cycling computer. Encouraged with my power output I pushed harder over the tar filled cracks of the road. The curvy miles straightened to the last steep climb of the ride. I shifted to a lower gear, spun my legs rapidly, shredding the ascent. At the top of Monroe, I stopped to see the top of Mt. Baldy hidden by clouds.
The rain fell as Matt, Bill and I rested at the shed. We bundled up for the descent. The wetness dried out as we road home. We were lucky to get our ride in before the rain started its long gentle patter.

Wednesday Rides
The winter time always calls to me through the walls of the building as I work during the day. Bill and Matt got out for their individual rides. Matt spied this less fortunate traveller at mile marker 8.8 about 150 feet down the cliff.
Me I must settle for cycling on the indoor trainer.

Monday Spins
Bill and the Arcadia Amblers sauntered up Glendora Mountain Road. Basking in the warmer temperatures and the brilliance of the day.
I did carve out time to pedal indoors. Definitely a different beat.

Second ride of the year.
Second ride of the year. I pushed donuts up the hill. The biggest donut centered around my middle and sapped the energy out of me.
The holiday sweets and dinners have stayed longer than expected. My bike goal for the new year is a strong core. What I do off the road is equally important as what I do on the road. This week the pressure of work, commuting and the struggle to find time for exercise and sleep. For Monday, I would like to walk at lunch, crunches before dinner and a spin on the indoor trainer. That's a tall order.
