Fuels InvolvedMedium to Heavy Brush. Mostly Chaparral, brush and mixed conifers. Fuels are approximately 15 to 20 years old.
Fire BehaviorPockets of heat remain predominantly in the drainages. Smoldering and flare ups continue to occur with the wind gusts.
Significant EventsA slow moving weather system with potential for lightning, flash floods and 45 mph winds was predicted to repeat itself after a similar system yesterday that produced multiple lightning strikes near the fire. A decision was made to pull all resources off the hill this morning until the current weather system has passed the fire area. The wetting rain and lightning was determined to be nsafe for crews to workd in safely. The situation was monitored throughout the day. The infrared flight that took place yesterday, indicated several areas of heat remain. Evacuations of the San Gabriel Canyon are still in effect. Highway 39 remains closed. Resources include 0 Air Tanker, 9 Helicopters, 3 engines,7 dozer, 15 hand crews and 7 water tenders.
