Conflicting Reports
There are different directives coming from different responses of the guards at the gate. The first report stated that on June 4th the road may be completely closed to any activity with the implied meaning no hiking and no cycling. The second report came from the guard today saying construction at the site will continue on the weekend. The road may be accessible to foot and bike traffic through out the week.

Tour of California 2014 Stage 7
I enjoyed a cool drink and empanadas at the cafe Malbec waiting for the Tour to arrive. The fencing was set up about 2:15 at the corner of Green and Catalina Streets in Pasadena. We chatted with a British couple who follow the tour closely, Loretta and Alan. The camera equipment was top of line as I listened to the clicks of photos captured as the tour whizzed past. We cheered the Lattern Rouge or the fellow riding in the very last place as he went by. The parade of support vehicles following the riders was impressive. The official with a red flag waved the riders to make the turn. Her race radio provided insights into the attacks and the catches by the peloton. It was nice to hear the unofficial winners announced as Peter Sagan, Thor Hushovd, Danny Van Poppel for Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California. Stage Results
Sir Bradly Wiggins in Yellow for Team Sky.
Peter Sagan in the Green points Jersey for Team Canondale with Thor Hushovd for BMC in the red and blue jersey on the right.
John C. watched the Tour from the top of Linda Vista and the 210 freeway.
John received a gift from Sir Bradley. Pretty cool. Awesome memorabilia.

My rides
Rode on Sunday morning early to beat the traffic. It was mostly a success. Quite surprised to see the pelotons of riders on the road.
Hooked up with Joan and Heather on Monday for a ride to Newmans. Much more fun when you chat with friends.
Wednesday was cloudy and I was about to skip out when I realized the Thursday schedule would be too late. I got out and rode. Ken caught me a mile and a half from the top. Great inspiration to pedal a bit faster. Thanks Ken.
Rarely do I see wildlife until it is staring me down in the middle of the road. I was amazed to see two does, one smaller one crossed the road and headed up the hillside. The larger one was staring at me from the opposite side of the road. "Cross, don't cross. What's that skinny thing on the wheels doing?" I read her mind. I made a complete stop as I wondered if deer were smarter than squirrels. She took the opportunity to bound across the road and with one magnificent six foot hop landed perfectly on p the hillside. From the seclusion of the brush, the does watched me and flapped their ears. I wanted a photo, but the noise of the velcro as I tried to get the equipment out sent them scurrying up into the deeper brush.
Everyone turned out happy and on their way. The endorphins were much needed on Thursday.
